We thought we were all done with tile decisions a few weeks ago but it turned out we checked it off our list a little prematurely. We met with Dadtractor and our tile guy on Saturday and we were told that we needed more tile…everywhere! Well, poop!
We tried to buy more white round tile, blue glass subways tile and grey more stone mosaic tiles but we weren’t very successful. We could only get our hands on more of the round white tile. Double poop! We also realized we never bought tile for the shower floor in the 2nd floor bathroom. Triple poop!
We hunkered down and discussed a million options and finally came up with 3 shower designs we’re happy with.
2nd/main floor bathroom
Inspiration:
Our shower design (please don’t laugh at Catherine’s InDesign doodle):
The shower walls are covered in white round tiles from Overstock.com and the shower floor will be covered in cork mosaic tile by Jelinkek. Yes, cork inside the shower. We were going back and forth about what to do about the shower floor when I (Catherine) decided to take a break from shower tiles and show Micah cork tiles I saw on my friend’s blog, Sugar and Spice. Micah said he saw those tiles featured in Dwell Magazine and he swore that they were used in a shower. We did a little googling and it turns out he remembered right. They did make cork tile for showers. We were sold and ordered 20 sq ft on the spot.
The tile wasn’t hugely expensive ($20 for 1.8 sq ft) and you lay the cork as you would ceramic tile. We’re super excited because the cork in the shower will match the bathroom floor.
To round out the bathroom, we’re going to cut this table in half and use part of the table as part of the vanity. All we have to do is cut a little hole for the pipe.
This is going to be the mirror for the bathroom. We inherited it from Micah’s parents. OK, we think we’re done with this bathroom except for the alterations to our old dining room table.

Next time I am in Seattle I WILL be coming over to shower in your new bathroom! Love that you guys are using the cork! And super jealous.
@ Sugar: It was your idea, so shower away. We'll even let you use one of the good towels. :)
