I think we mentioned this before, but we decided to throw ourselves a housewarming party at the end of the month. May is bad for us with school coming to a close for Micah and I travel again over Memorial Day and won’t be back until the 4th of July. We have a wedding to attend once I’m back, then Micah heads to a workshop for a week. Then it’s August, then school starts, then it’s Christmas. Ok, it won’t be Christmas but you get where I’m going with this.
So we decided on April 24th. We’re having a party for friends and will do one for family later. My family expects food. Not just a little food but a full on spread that would feed 100 people even if only 40 people are invited. My Mom thinks we should wait on the food-family housewarming until later. We agree. So just friends and new neighbors for now.
A few weeks ago we sent out an evite to the shindig. I wanted to make real invites but I didn’t want the party to seem formal or spend dough on postage. Frankly, we were lazy and didn’t want to deal with 50 or so paper invites. With about 10 days to go, we’ve noticed that a lot of people haven’t opened their evite. Micah heard from some friends that they never received it or it went straight to junk mailbox. Well poop! I made a little something to drop in our neighbors' mailboxes which we’re going to email to friends who didn’t get the original.
I put this together in InDesign (I REALLY need Illustrator) and we plan to email it today and drop it off tomorrow. Micah doesn’t know it, but our housewarming has a theme. We’ll see if he and everyone else picks up on it.
So here’s my question(s) for you today:
1. Should we invite the neighbors with the cats?
2. Any recipe suggestions? I think we have savory covered but we need sweet things. Our preference are dishes that can be made ahead of time and don’t require plates. Actually, we’ll take savory too.
