We took off for the weekend and went up north to Whidbey Island for a few days with friends at a cabin near the beach. Now before you get super jealous, just know that there are beaches (warm water and sand) and Washington beaches (freezing cold ocean and REALLY rocky shore). It was overcast and rainy but we still had a lovely time hiking in the rain, stalking a family of deer, trying to do the world’s most yellow and brown puzzle and listening to Miami Beats. It’s a long story.
As usual, we forgot our camera and were left with just our iPhones. Here are the two best pictures we snapped.
What’s gunkholing? Well, wouldn’t you like to know.
We got home mid-afternoon Monday and found that we (or I) was too lazy to do a big Sunday (or really Monday) meal. Luckily, we had everything we needed for a gourmet BAT (Bacon, Arugula and Tomato) dinner.
Our friend Darik took a class and tried his hand at curing his own bacon last weekend. Darik was nice enough to “share” (we have dirt on him) some of his home cured bacon with us which we used for our BAT. We had some bagged salad and broiled some yellow, purple and white cauliflower as sides. It was a nice and easy end to a nice and easy weekend.
