We hope! Today is our final inspection. Yes, FINAL. We passed the last bit of our electrical inspection yesterday. They came out to make sure the ugly stairway lights worked – they do. They aren’t ugly because the lights are ugly but because the pillars the lights are on are ugly. That’s for another time though.
So, we find ourselves here after literally 35 inspections and 11, 12, 70 permits. We don’t know how to feel about this. We know that even if we pass today, the work on the house isn’t done. There is all sorts of minor projects that need to be done. BUT, in the eyes of the city, we’ll be done. No more worrying about which permits are about to expire and which ones to work on next. We can finally do things at our own pace.
We’re a little worried because we’ve been assigned a new inspector. We had am, um, rocky relationship with our last inspector. We finally figured him out and now we have a new person. We have our fingers and toes crossed that this is a formality and he/she will just pass us. We have all the requisite passes required to get here.
So fingers crossed that we pass and be done with the city for a long while. Look for updates later this afternoon.
p.s. if you are interested in part of our inspection journey, check it out here, here, here, here, here (my personal favorite) and here. There are more posts but I think this should be enough to give you an idea.
