I have some weekend crafting that needs to be done this weekend. Some of them aren’t super fun like making and putting up curtains or sanding down the counter in the master bathroom (that’s crafting right?). I also have some fun crafts planned like starting (and finishing) 3 Christmas presents.
Our nephew is really into place cooking and eating. He’s got a bunch of wooden food from Melissa & Doug that he loves. Have you seen their stuff? I’m in love with the Pizza and Birthday Party sets.
So CUTE! I think we have a future foodie in the family.
Last year for Christmas I participated in an ornament exchange on Weddingbee. I drew Mrs. Dumpling (aka OMG Mom), so I purchased the pattern for felt Dim Sum. I was super excited to make my dumpling ornament but then we started moving and things got crazy. It got done but wasn’t a cute as I had hoped.
I decided that I needed to do Dim Sum and myself justice so I decided I was going to make Dim Sum felt play food for our nephew. I’m thinking a set like this:
It’s got some of my favorites like Siu Mai and Har Gau, though it’s missing the steam pork spare ribs in black bean sauce and Law Bok Gow I love. Micah suggested I make chicken feet to make the whole thing more authentic but I think that’s not necessary.
I bought the pattern last year from Ume Craft. She has so many cute ones up. I really want the doughnut one. It’s great because the patterns are pretty cheap and the materials shouldn’t cost you more than a few bucks. And if you are lucky like me, you can reuse the pattern for different people and occasions.
The bloggers at Weddingbee are doing another ornament exchange this year and I’m secretly hoping I get a food or drink blogger. I want a reason to buy more patterns! I also think I need to have some Dim Sum this weekend to inspire my crafting.
Anyone else crafting presents for the holidays?
