Have you ever watched an infomercial and seriously considered buying the odd product they had on offer? I can think of a few things I thought I needed before I came to my senses. They usually had something to do with weight loss. And then there are the regular commercials that sell products that don’t seem so crazy, like the ShamWow. I’m not going to lie; I thought about it.
So where am I going with all this? Last Christmas Momager bought us some Agua Globes. You know, these things:
We laughed when we saw them and told ourselves we’d throw them in the Goodwill pile eventually. They aren’t the cutest thing. Micah decided that maybe he’d give them a try. We had a plant in one of the guest rooms that was surviving but needed a little more attention. We filled the globe inserted it into the pot and left. 3 weeks later I went into the guest room and the plant looked great. It had grown SO many more leaves and branches since we put the Aqua Globe in. It looked healthier than when we bought it at Ikea. That was it. We were sold on Aqua Globes.
We were so convinced that we actually bought more Aqua Globes!
I know. It’s silly but they work! This set came with a semi-clear bulb so I used it in the pot with the coffee plant in our living room. It’s grown quite a bit since I got it 5 years ago.
This coffee plant is actually a lot prettier than the picture makes it out to be. It’s been a great plant that does really well indoors here in Seattle. It’s leaves are really pretty.
Who knew that something that was As Seen On TV could be so great? I might be more open to the weird things I see advertised only on TV like this:
OK, maybe not. I’m not sure I want a tasty tornado in my hands.
Anyone else ever buy something that was As Seen On TV?
