It’s been too long since we’ve posted anything. Things are busy, busy, busy around here. The bathroom is almost done, work is surprisingly crazy and we were just in Philadelphia (for work). I did manage to spend one night in my hotel room crafting. I was exhausted from all the meetings and needed a break.
A few weeks back I repinned this fabulous orb thing on Pinterest.

I decided that I was going to use the cards we got from out wedding and the Holiday cards we received last year to make a couple of these. Thankfully, Jessica over at How About Orange made a template so all I had to do was cut.
The large orb is made of last year’s Holiday cards and the smaller one is made of some of the cards from our wedding 2.5 years ago. I’m such a hoarder.
I turned a second wedding card orb into an ornament for our tree. Making a wedding ornament was the real reason I kept the cards – I just didn’t know what to make.
The only real piece of advice I have around making these is to use at least medium weight paper. It has give but isn’t easily torn. Also, I tried using the cards printed on photo paper and that didn’t really work for me. Maybe once I’m a pro at this I’ll be able to use photo paper.
I’m really loving these little orbs. Micah actually likes them too. I can’t wait to make an ornament for 2012. I might also make an orb or two to keep around the house all year long. I have a box of postcards from my early 20’s which would work nicely. See…hoarder.
So, are you a hoarder like me and keep Christmas cards for future crafting?

Very cute! And yes, I have an embarrassing amount of cards saved around my house!
I just made one out of normal copy paper! It's so cute I'm going to go out and buy that fun paper from Paper Source or something then make a whole bunch to use as a centerpiece on our coffee table (probably throw them in a bowl or something). So cheap and colorful!
Oh, cute!! I want to try this!
This is a great idea! Last year I scrapbooked the photo cards and those from our family. With the rest, I discarded the back and then made a holiday postcard for the troops with the other side.
